The employees of the Samsung Group, which is a global leader in electronic materials, have gone on strike demanding an increase in service facilities.
About 30,000 employees have embarked on an indefinite strike, BBC has mentioned.
The National Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU), an organization of employees, started the movement with a three-day strike. At that time, the employees said that the management was not generous with the demand, so they had to resort to an indefinite strike.
NSEU responded that the first phase of the strike did not have any effect on the management and that it was forced to hold an indefinite strike effective from 10th July.
About a quarter of the employees working at Samsung’s headquarters in South Korea are members of NSEU. Employees have said that the protest will cause problems in the production and distribution of Samsung’s materials.
The organization said that 6,500 employees in the industrial sector alone went on strike.
But the management of Samsung has denied the claims of the employees. The movement has not caused any problems in production and distribution. However, we are sensitive to the demands of the employees and are ready to resolve them as soon as possible,” Samsung’s management told the BBC.
Samsung’s Global Assistant Manager Jung In Yoon has responded that there is no interruption in production.
NSEU had marched in the industrial sector last month to convey its demand to the management.
Samsung is considered to be the world’s largest company in the production of memory chips, smartphones and televisions. According to the BBC, the business and profits of Samsung chips have increased rapidly due to the development of AI technology.
